It is a good idea to have the transmission filter changed every 30,000 miles when the fluid is changed. Because we are transmission experts here at J&M Auto Service, we can change this filter for you. We are also a full-service auto shop, which means we can change all of your vehicle’s filters. In the case of the transmission filter, your car, truck, or utility vehicle may not actually have one. Check your owner’s manual to see if it does and whether it has a cabin air filter, as well.
Air
Your automobile definitely has an air filter. This filter is found in the engine, and, as its name suggests, it is responsible for filtering the air that comes in through the grille. This air is burned in the combustion chamber along with fuel to generate engine combustion. Without combustion, your automobile will not start or run. It is recommended that you change the air filter every 12,000 miles. If you don’t drive a lot, change the filter once a year.
Cabin
As we mentioned above, you need to check your owner’s manual to see if your vehicle has a cabin air filter. Not all automobiles are equipped with this filter. If yours isn’t, you have permanent netting that filters the cabin air and never needs to be replaced. If you do have a cabin air filter, this filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles. This ensures you always have clean and fresh air flowing through the vents into the passenger cabin.
Fuel
The next two filters your vehicle definitely has. The fuel filter removes dirt and sediment from your vehicle’s gasoline or diesel fuel to make sure it is pure once it is introduced into the combustion chamber. Even if you buy high-octane, expensive fuel, it still contains sediment in it. It’s so important that this sediment is removed that the fuel flows through the filter twice. This filter needs to be changed every 30,000 miles. Every two years works for low-mileage drivers.
Oil
Finally, when we change your vehicle’s oil, we change the oil filter. Depending on the type of oil you have in your automobile, this means you get a clean oil filter every 3,000 miles to 10,000 miles. The motor oil in the engine runs through the filter when it is done circulating through the engine. This makes certain to remove all of the grime the oil picks up during its journey.
